Many people think that in order to have great interior design you have to hire a professional, in most cases this is correct, but if your on a budget and cant afford one there are some great things you can do.

One you want to get ideas, get online and look at designers websites for inspiration, don’t copy exactly, add your own touch to it. As long as it’s in the area of decoration and your not trying to knock down walls or put an addition on you should be safe decorating yourself. If you want to add on or change the structure of your home, make sure you find someone who knows what they are doing, either a designer, handyman, or hire a construction company, if your really lucky and either know someone who can do it or do it yourself, go ahead, just make sure you do know what you are doing, I have seen many people spend more money then they would have hiring someone because they tried it themselves and didn’t know what to do.

So when should you really hire a designer? Well are you very busy and don’t have time to get everything done before a big event, or do you have health problems and can’t get up and down a latter to paint and put up decorations? Then you should think about calling a designer, another great thing you can do on a budget is check out the local colleges and see if they offer interior design or decorating classes, again if your not trying to change too much, just the cosmetic look of your room then you can have students do it. Most teachers would love to get there students real world experience.

Many people also don’t realize that they can have there homes decorated for Christmas by a designer! Do you like the look of those homes in magazines but can’t seem to get it right? Hire a designer!
