Find Your Home’s Style With StudBox

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of RI Media Group. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love finding a great deal and when it’s a great deal on something for my home I love it even more. Right now you can find yourself a great deal with StudBox. What I really love about them from a designer’s point of view is that they are a shopping place for a man who loves a modern look, but doesn’t want to spend hours in a store looking at furniture. The site itself is very easy to get around and has a simple style. The blue and orange color theme also may appeal to men more then women, but I like it, maybe that’s just me though. You add that to their new “Great Pair” promotion and you have gold.

What they have done for this promotion is they have found two items that work together and will be selling them at a discount for two weeks. This week it is this very awesome Shinto Media Unit and an Roku HD Player. Both are fun and stylish and do work very well together. I really am happy they have done this promotion because many men that I know love the electronics, but don’t have a clue as to what to put it on. On the other hand a few would pick out the console, but never even look at the HD player. Really I would walk into a room with this in it and think “nice!”

When it comes to design of course having somewhere stylish to put your equipment is a must and trust me guys a women will be impressed by a clean and stylish looking apartment or home. Really we do look at things like that, even when we say we don’t.

At Home With Laurie Ann Book Review and Giveaway

Book Provided to me by the publisher to review, all thoughts and opinions are my own, unless other wise stated.

About the Book

Down-to-earth talent and easy-to-implement design style describes Laurie Ann McMillin Ray. After years of guiding a variety of clients through an assortment of decorating adventures, she shares her insider’s knowledge and inspiration cultivated along the route. The book gives insight into the art of the easy room makeover by combining color, fabric, and wallpaper with quality furnishings and flea market finds, and teaches how to transform a space from mediocre to wow with just a few small changes (illustrated in more than two hundred color photographs). The best part is that her advice is budget minded, and she gives tips for a thrifty transformation. Bottom line this book is not about conventional decorating dictated by someone else’s rules, but about bending the rules to reflect personality the reader’s.

About The Author

Laurie Ann McMillin Ray has been involved in the Southern California interior design community since the 1980s when she began decorating model homes for her father, well-known builder Corky McMillin. Since that time she has built a solid reputation as both an interior designer and the owner of several decorating stores. She is a self-taught, innovative go-getter who is known for her eclectic style.

Review

This book is really a very good beginners guide to home decorating. If you have no clue where to start you should pick up this book and use it. This book covers everything from selecting furniture to figuring out what style you really should have in your home. There are quizzes and tips to help you find a look that is right for you. Most of the images in the book are more of a country style though there is a really amazing section on holiday decorating and a section on the outdoor spaces you may be looking at right now as spring is here and we all want outside.

The book goes into detail about different types of interiors, eclectic, traditional and more. I love how they are described and since I do have an idea of what these are I decided to show a friend this book, one who has no clue, she loved it so much she ran out and bought it! She is always asking my advice and though she still does she at least has a better idea of what she likes, making my advice even more tailored to her needs.

Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who needs help with decorating. It’s very useful and should get even the most novice decorator started on there next home decorating project.

Simple Ways To Improve The Worth Of Your Home

Right now everyone is looking for a way to save money, but at the same time keep the value of their home investment up. There are many easy, quick ways to increase the value of your home without breaking the bank.

Don’t follow trends, but look at them. If you like the trend, use it, but don’t do it if you are looking at moving in 20 years or more, trends change and things like a stainless steel kitchen sink may not be the style by then and you would have put all of this money into your home only to see that it’s now dated and no one wants it. Personally I want a stainless steal sink but my sister wants a farmhouse sink. I prefer stainless because it’s easy to clean, but maybe you don’t like the look, I do.

There are many other things you can do to increase the value of your home for the future and if you plan now, you will be able to save the money to do the big projects like installing hardwood floors, replacing windows and putting on a new roof. Until you have that money saved I would look at small things like that sink, a shower change or even just changing all of the faucets in your home. You also could add a small deck or just repaint to freshen things up.

Tropical Traditions Glass and Surface Cleaner Review and Giveaway

Comments closed

I was given this product from Tropical Traditions to review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cleaning is a must when you are striving for good design and having a good cleaner helps you get that clean look everyone wants. I was very excited to try out the Glass and Surface Cleaner from tropical traditions because it has no ammonia and I’m finding my pets don’t like products with ammonia in them. I also like that you get a gallon  of it for the price and that it contains no fragrances. Don’t get me wrong I love smelly stuff, but when you have a product that smells like one thing and one that smells like another using them together sometimes will just not work.

A Little About the Product (taken from the Tropical Traditions website)

  • No ammonia, alcohol or harsh volatile solvents
  • 0% VOC (Volatile organic Compounds)
  • No rinsing required
  • Non-streaking
  • No fragrance or dye added

Household Traditions Glass and Surface Cleaner uses a revolutionary technology which guards your health from harmful irritants and inhalants yet effortlessly cleans glass and most surfaces without the use of ammonia, alcohol, or harsh, volatile solvents normally found in most glass and surface cleaners; even those labeled “natural.” Household Traditions Glass and Surface Cleaner contains no fragrances or dyes.

Review:

I love this product, no only does it clean well it does not leave streaks all over your windows, mirrors and other glass items, but it cleaned our glass stove very well, managed to get the gunk off the inside of my car windshield and even got the dirt from the dog off the sliding glass door. I really don’t know why our dog insist on jumping at the door when she wants in.

I also used the glass and surface cleaner on my desk, our counters and our sink. I really liked how it didn’t streak our stainless steal faucet and actually got my desk clean. Overall I’m very happy with this product and I do recommend that everyone at least check it out. So far the only downside is that you need to buy a spray bottle, well if you don’t already have one.
