Landscape for Shade and Fun

Its summer we are spending more and more time outside and wondering what we can do to make that time more enjoyable. Well, one way is to landscape. I currently live in a home that does not have much landscaping and I feel that is why we don’t spend much time outside. As a teen I lived in a home with a lot of landscaping and we were always outside doing something.

People love pretty spaces, if they didn’t I would not have majored in interior design. There would be no HGTV and everything would be bland. It seems though that when it comes to the outdoors there is little that people do to make it just as great as the inside. Now I’m not saying add a huge outdoor kitchen if you don’t want to, but adding a deck, a nice walkway to a secret or open garden or maybe just a few flowerbeds can make a huge difference in how you feel about your home.

If you could add anything you wanted to your outdoor space what would you add?

Warm Your Nights With A Table Top Fire Pit

I love this time of year, the weather is getting warmer and people in the north area of the US (like me) are now able to get outside and enjoy nice weather. One way you can do this is to set up an outdoor entertainment area and have a bbq with your friends. Adding a great looking seating and cooking area not only makes great use of the outdoor space that you did also spend money to buy, but it can make you love your home even more.

One thing to me that always completes an outdoor space is a fire pit, but many places do not allow burning so your really very limited as to what you can do. That is where a really cool table top fire pit may come in handy. I just bought one and I think they really are a great investment. I got my locally, but you can find the one I have pictured on Amazon.com. It’s $82.97 and really is a great investment if you spend a lot of time outside and can’t have a fire.

Spring is here and now is a great time to start a garden, now you really should have started your seeds already, but it’s okay if you have to go out and buy some plants. A very trendy thing to do this year is to plant an organic garden, it’s actually very simple and with the help of My Organic Gardening Blog from Saferbrand.com you can be well on your way to a great organic gardening.

Not only can an organic garden improve your eating habits but you can get a great sense of pride from growing one. This spring you not only need to look at what is going into your home in terms of decor, but what you are doing to improve the outside appeal of that home and what you are doing to help the earth and yourself. It’s Almost Time For Spring Cleaning

It’s the end of January and that means spring will be here in about 2 more months for most of the northern hemisphere. People everywhere will start to open windows and clean out all of the junk left in their homes from winter. If your one of these people you may want to start thinking now about getting everything ready for spring cleaning.

My first tip is to create a check list of everything you will need to do. Do you need to clean gutters, windows or sideing? Will doors or windows need to be replaced. What about flowers, herbs and vegetables are you going to start seeds or buy plants from a nursery. I am hopeing to do seeds this year and will be heading out this weekend to get some started.

Next you want to start checking out your cleaning supplies. Make sure your vacuum is in good condition and all filters are clean, this should be done more in the winter anyway to help keep your home as clean as possible. Make sure you have all the cleaning supplies you need. If not you have time now to shop around and make sure you get a good deal.

If your thinking of painting your home this year start takeing bids now. It’s cheaper in the winter and you may be able to get it done pretty early and lock in the price to do it. I would check with local painters and see what they are willing to do for you.

The last tip I have is to start planing any outdoor projects now, things like new landscaping, outdoor areas and pools are easier to tackle when you have a good plan. Doing a plan in the winter will keep you from slacking off when the time comes to actually do the work.

Do you have any tips?

Get Ready To Care For Your Lawn

Winter is here, but soon you will start to see grass growing again and you want to be ready for it right? Well now is a great time to start researching that new lawnmower. Not only will you know what your shopping for when it’s time to go get one of those lawnmowers, but you will also be able to hunt for the best deals and take your time deciding what mower is right for you.

Maybe for you a bosch rotak is what you will need, maybe you live in John Deer country like I do or maybe you just need a small push mower as you only have one inch of green on your lawn and you don’t care who makes the mower. No matter what type or size mower you need you want something that works for you and keeps working.

My family has been though four lawnmowers in the last four years. We bought cheap and paid for it. Sometimes cheap works, but if you have a large lawn, a bumpy lawn like we do or a lawn that requires a lot of mowing because the grass grows like weeds, you may want to spend a little more on a lawnmower that has the backing of a company with good service. Start looking now and the research and time will pay off.
