Hot Design Trend: Bamboo

bambooBamboo is suppose to be lucky and havieng it in your home is said to bring luck. Why not add some to your home. A great place to put this plant in in a bathroom, kitchen or bedroom. Why? Mostly because you will remember to water it better if it’s in a room you use.

Bamboo is a very clean looking plant and since they don’t require a lot of care they are really great for anyone. Another great reason to add bamboo to your living space is to bring in green, in other words plants in general give you better air quality, can make you feel better and create a space that is one with the outdoors.

Turn Your Home Into A Getaway

Sometimes you can go on a great tropical vacation without even getting out your passport. Pick one room in your home and redecorate it in a tropical theme. You can even go green by using bamboo flooring and furniture. Use tropical prints and plants to complete the look. Yes silk plants count.

FireplaceYou can also switch things up and redo a room as a winter lodge complete with fireplace and warm cozy rugs and furniture. Fireplaces are now available to anyone without having to knock down a wall. Many now run on a gel that is smokeless and can even be put into apartments. Just make sure to check on what your insurance will cover.

Hopefully these two ideas will get you into a decorateing mood and hopefully you will have fun with it.

Spring tips for indoors

Many people do not have the luxury of having a yard they can go into and garden in or relax in. But even if you don’t have one there are many things you can do to make your home’s indoor area just a festive as the outdoors would be.

The first thing you want to do it to string up some fun funky lights in your dinning area, make it feel like your outside at a fun restaurant. Buy an indoor grill and grill up some good food and you have it made. Of course you may not want to keep this type of decor up long so here are a few other ideas for you.

  • Buy plants with bright colors
  • Get a fountain or two to bring in the sound of water
  • Paint the walls bright colors, remember paint is the lest expensive change you can make
  • Buy pictures that will bring the outside in and put them in bamboo frames
  • Get nice outdoor furniture and use it in one room of your home

Do you have any tips?

Simple Saturday: Simple outdoor accessories

This is something new I’m going to be starting. I’m going to be giving you a few ideas for simple decor items or changes you can make to your home. I hope you enjoy.

The weather is getting warmer and many people are starting to get outside. Right now is a great time to add a few simple decorations to your yard that you can enjoy both indoors and out. One simple decor item are wind chimes. They are a great addition to any yard as they have soothing quality’s to them and can really help you to relax. You want to find one that works for you and there are many to choose from, my favorite are the bamboo ones just because I like the sound of them.

Another simple accessory to add to your yard is a small fountain. You can buy these at most stores and they don’t take up that much space and are very easy to use. I will talk about larger fountains in a future post.

Those are just two things you can add to your yard so that you can start enjoying it. Both of these would actually work well inside also, so if you have an apartment you can still enjoy these items.
