First, suggest the idea to your grandchild. It could be that he or she has been thinking of ideas for a long while, or perhaps it has never crossed his or her mind. Either way, your grandchild will become excited about all the possibilities. There may be quite a few far-fetched or even impossible ideas they tell you. It is important to gently rein in their wild imagination and offer a few examples of what can be done.

Paint colour is important to establish before anything else. Does the grandchild want something bright and colourful? Dark and mysterious? Or does he simply not care? Grandchildren aged six and above will probably have a specific colour in mind. Boys tend to go for more neutral colours like tan, black, navy blue, or off-white. Girls are more likely to choose wild and fun colours like pink, green, blue, yellow, or orange.

Once the paint has been chosen, make a fun day out of decorating the room! Your grandchild will love to use the big roller to paint and will enthusiastically help you all day long.

After paint, you can take your grandchild to pick out some new items for their room. These could include:

- a different style of bed (trundle, bunk bed, etc.)
- a colourful comforter
- matching drapes
- a wallpaper border with their favorite animal or action hero
- a bedside table
- a desk
- a computer
- lamps or other lighting
- a bookcase
- a shoe organizer
- a personalized wall decal

Once the furniture is in place, take a look at the walls. Is there any empty space? It’s a great idea to frame some of your grandchild’s more impressive works of art and hang them up on the wall. That way, he or she can be proud of the work and show it off to all his or her friends. If your grandchild is not an artist, take the time to find out his or her interests. If he or she is into ponies or the SpongeBob TV show, get a couple posters that features these. Your grandchild will love to look at them and see the things he or she likes most in the brand new room.

Sometimes your grandchild might not know what he or she wants. Be patient, make suggestions, and give choices. Grandchildren can be picky or finicky, but with a little patience, you can redecorate their room and have a good time doing it.

Of course I could be wrong, maybe you live in the Midwest where homes tend to vary a lot in style and really almost anything goes. I think no matter where you live you need to decorate for you, keep it organized and keep it clean. Another mindset is decorating your home for an area you would like to live in, but don’t. So if you want to live in the tropics and you live in Alaska, maybe you could use bright colors, lots of plants and use water features to make your home feel more tropical.

Whatever you decide to do you want to decorate for you. What area would you like to live in and how would you decorate your home to fit that area?

I’m actually looking at curtains myself for my new apartment I have some for my room that I’m bringing down this weekend since not only do I need cool weather insulation, but there is a horrable light from the building next to me that shines into my window. It keeps me awake so I have to do something. I’m also looking at good thermal curtains for my living room to help keep my expences down. The apartment I’m in only has one window for the living room, dinning and kitchen, it’s an open floor plan so it works and there is only one window per bedroom. I’m surrounded on 3 sides by other apartments so it’s really very good for keeping in warm air and adding some curtains should make sure I keep my apartment warm at a low cost. Now to just pick out the ones I want!

I think this is a great thing because if your good at it you help your friends and yourself, if your not hopefully your friends realize it and help you! This of course may be why you are here You need ideas, and help. I’m all about using the world around you to influence your design. I go to the mall a lot and just walk around looking at displays, but sometimes the best places to go are outside, gardens and seeing how others decorate their homes is a great way to get inspired.

I’m also a big fan of decorating at a movie theater. Yep, a movie theater next time you watch or see a movie look at how the rooms are decorated and how much they use color or don’t. Finding ideas outside of the magazines is a great way to keep things fresh and different. How about you do you have any place that inspires your interior design?

If you research northern log homes in the united states you will probably find some great northern interior design that will give you great decorating ideas for winter or a northern home. Rustic style is big in that area and usually it involves fir, wood and other items that make you feel warm and cozy. It really just all depends on what type of style you are looking for. Me, I love Mediterranean style so I tend to look up homes in that area. Though my apartment is far from a Mediterranean style apartment I can still use some of the ideas in my apartment to make it feel like it’s in the Mediterranean and not sitting in Michigan.

You Only Have so Much Space

Measure the space you have to devote to your kitchen and make sure to keep in mind any additions your doing or if your knocking down walls as you need to measure that space as well. If you create a wonderful design, but don’t have to space to put it into place then you are really just wasting your time and energy on something that can not be.

Remember the Kitchen Triangle.

No this is not a call to dinner triangle, but the triangle that is created by the sink, stove and refrigerator. Now you can also have more then one Kitchen Triangle and that may consist of a second sink, ovens or other major appliance. You want these positioned in a triangle so that cooking and clean up is faster and easier. Also you want a small triangle, not a big one so try to keep the space between these items at a happy medium. I usually go no more then 3-5 feet per triangle side.

Don’t Go With The Trends

Yes, I know the trends are pretty and fun and new… for now. Tried and true designs that are classic make it so you can enjoy your kitchen for many years, not just one or two. If you have the money to remodel your kitchen every two or three years go ahead and copy the trends, but if your like most people you need a kitchen that will work for a long time.

Design Your Kitchen For You

If you have a large family and need three sinks, four stoves and a grill along with a gas range, go for it, but if you have a normal size family or may sell your home in a year or two don’t add in too many personalized extras. You want your home to appeal to a buyer or you want to be able to enjoy your space, not just see a bunch of metal everywhere.

If you do want a more personalized touch to your kitchen try wall decals or accessories to add a more personal touch.

If you follow these few simple rules and ideas you should end up with a great kitchen design that works for you and your family without too much of a hassle or too many extras that just get in the way.

If your going to be hosting any type of backyard barbeque this summer you may want to check out these Essential Grilling Tips From Qvc’s David. One great idea is to invest in a new grill. My friends and I have already starting having cookouts and we have found that a few of us need a bigger grill! Finding a great grill is hard and you want to remember to find one that also fits your home and lifestyle. If you entertain a lot you want a big grill, if you don’t a smaller one will do. Also grills come in so many colors now and you can really get one that matches your outdoor decor or your personal style.

You also want to make sure your grill is not too big for your space, if you have a small yard or just have a patio make sure you measure for your grill and don’t get one that is too big. Many people I know have ended up having to take their grill back to the store because it doesn’t fit.

Don’t Forget Some Style with your Food

The “King Size” mentality does not always stop at the bed, so many people think bigger is better, a huge dresser, TV or closet is a must for many people but having a TV in the bedroom can cause problems with sleep and communication and that huge closet just makes you buy more clothing that you don’t need. Now I love clothing as much as the next girl, but you need to think about what you actually wear and how much space you really need. That huge dresser also could be brought down to size by looking again at what you really wear and what you can get rid of.

The couple I corresponded with was grateful for my advice and tips. They informed me that they were able to create the space they needed to feel comfortable in their room and have found they sleep so much better now. That my readers is how great interior design can change your life.

This years HGTV Green Home is no exception. It’s an amazing home and something I would love to live in. I think one of my favorite things is the activity room. It’s a new spin on the laundry room as you can do laundry, but it can also serve as an office area and a general hang out room. Check out this video to see the home:

I love it and the interior design is amazing. Though I’m not a fan of yellow it does work in the living room and creates a happier warm look. I also love hiding the TV behind artwork, this is not a new thing but it’s something that is gaining in popularity as more and more people are looking at using rooms for more then just watching TV. Also with the new flat screen TV’s it’s easier and more avoidable to hide your TV from view when you are not watching it.

I found this really nice and modern headboard on Dreams.co.uk and I think this would be the perfect addition to any modern bedroom. It’s different then many metal headboard I have seen and I really like the clean simple lines it creates. Add in some matching curtain rods and lighting fixtures and you have a whole new room at very little cost. Don’t forget to add some plants, artwork and a few candles to create a very relaxing environment for you to fall to sleep in.
